My brother sent me the following picture. There is no article to accompanying it, but I thought that it is just cool to have a sabat surat Sikh portrayed in such a positive and “normal” light. The man in the picture is Fauja Singh, a world record holding marathon runner. This billboard appears in Vancouver, Canada.
I like these Adidas ads. They did a great set of them with Fauja Singh too. Definitely cool.
Wonderful! It is great to see a khesdari Babuji portrayed in a positive and unique light. He does not look like a male-model wearing the en-vogue turban on a billboard, just the Babuji from next-door. I personally don’t know many avid runner Babujis … most of them at Mikha Singh’s age of actually 72, are relaxing by reading the newspaper, playing thash (i.e. cards), or going for walks … let alone running … it’s great to see him doing something different! Sometimes you hear the elderly say that they can’t do many physical activities because they are too old (i.e. usually it’s a state-of-mind and not their actual physical condition) … now I can personally point to Milka Singh and say … he did it and his picture is on a billboard! I think he could serve as a source of inspiration for both the young and old!
Sundari, my mistake. The guy on the pic is Fauja Singh. Awesome just the same.
Adidas signed Fauja Singh a while back.
I remember a video interview type ad of him also that adidas did, can’t find it online anymore…
PETA also did an ad with him.
Jodha, I remember that adidas ad with him, but can’t find it either.
Here is a short interview with him after he ran the marathon in Edinburgh. He really is a role model for people of all ages. Can you believe he only started taking running seriously at the age of 81?!
GO UNCLE!
i would wish someone to sponsor his visit to important places in india
it will indeed be a living example especially for the elderly ones to keep on working and live in high spirits
