A lot of bloggers here promote liberal logic and freedom of speech .Now what happened?
What Sajid khan said was freedom of speech..What he said that he beleive a 5 year old should not have sword in his hand.may be million around the world agree with him so does it mean that they all are stupid?Anyway I don't agree with him but if sikhs really feels that people should not say anything about them on these type of issue's then they should not participate on these petty TV shows

  6. iSingh says:

I agree with Sajid completeley. It is a question of safety and messaging. There is nothing religious about the whole issue. Going by my own historical experience, there'll be many kids from all religious groups swerving swords around the world after seeing that little dude. Not cool.

I also am not sure if the background music's and Kiran Kher's religious angle was appropriate for a talent show.

This is a talent show. Talent is not defined within age group or types of acts. There is no definition on TYPE AND AGE OF TALENT WHATESOEVER. It was just a display of talent and not indulgence of real fight. Here are my few points:

    1) I am sure if there was some kid kissing and doing romantic acts, then it would not have been a problem. Setting precedent for promiscuity from small age is not a problem but setting precedent for some activity which keeps people away from drugs and other eveil influence, as they grow up, is a wrong precedent.

    2) If Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) trains kids in Shaka with Lathis then it is considered social service. When 5 year old are inducted in Kalaripayattu it is fine, even though there is use of swords.

    3) American Kids (white and African American) are not watching Gatka or playing Gatka but they are still violent. Bullying and burning other kids on petty issues so what has Mr.Khan got to say about it.

    4) How about banning video games which promote violence of extreme levels. I am sure Sajid's and the supporters' children, if any, also might be playing some games more violent in nature.Nay, that is part of the liberal culture, ain't it? How about banning movies like karate kid etc? Nay, that's American, liberal seeming and more interesting to watch, ain't it?

    5) Gatka is part of Sikhs' traditions and culture. Whether it is bad or good for children is subjective in nature just as you cannot judge the exposure of children to various social ills like promiscuity, rape, drugs etc through T.V channels in western countries. Culture and tradition cannot be judged by any person. They have stood test of time.

I know all those against this act would think nothing beyond what's considered to be a LIBERAL thought even if it might be a part of double standards. It's easy to lead a SO CALLED LIBERAL LIFE WHICH REQUIRES NO THINKING OR ANALYZING, BUT JUST GOING BY WHAT 'GENERAL' PUBLIC DEEMS APPROPRIATE AND RIGHT.

When we started The Langar Hall, we had hoped for intelligent conversation, not the same knee-jerk responses to be followed on every post we put up.

@sher – some valid points, but trying to raise the question of whether the judge being of a Hindu background is as irrelevant as most of your banal and repetitive comments

@kds – I didn't ask that Sajjid be silenced. People have the right to say stupid things and I have the right to call them stupid. Do you ever have a point?

@Virk – I am sure there are many other people of a Sikh background trying to do many things for the show. Sikhs are not the monolith you present nor the straw man that you are so 'bravely' trying to refute. Always banging the same drum – no one is listening!

@slumdog – you are right. The show is intended to manufacture controversies and drama. This is what sells.

just another episode to prove just how spiritually immature we all are turning such a petty issue into a hoohaa. we should be humble enough like nanak to accept criticism and churn it into a divine message. alas, the critic and criticized just don't seem to grow up ..

^ Well……..after that ^ display I don't think there can be anybody here left with any doubt that whenever they see a post here by a certain 'Rajinder Singh Virk'…..they can be sure that it is actually a 'Rakesh Gupta' or a 'Sunil Sharma' pretending to be a Singh. Or…perhaps I'm wrong ? Perhaps a Rajinder Singh Virk really is full of self loathing and gets so worked up in his anti-sikh hatred that he forgets who and what he is, so in all the intense drama mistakingly thinks he's an hassidic jew from Brooklyn talking about THEM Sikhs from Punjab.

conspiracy theories. 'They' are out to get you Dosanjh, quick get back into your basement and switch off all the lights. live in darkness.

here we have two sides of a coin lakhvir and Dosanjh.

lakhvir (just my humble opinion) is spot on with his observation about the "petty issue". How a community can get worked up so much (Akal Takht and political parties getting involved!!!) over such a trivial matter is beyond my comprehension.

Now they want Akal Takht to 'punish' the show judge!! Someone reminded of the Aurangzeb days? would there be a Hukamnama from Akal Takht BANNING the ban on five-year olds (just Sikhs, no other community) brandishing swords?

Just one simple question, who takes responsibility if that five-year-old gets hurt while practicing or performing?

    Why so much paranoia …insecurity?

Look pot calling the kettle black. Sher you are one big time hypocrite I must say. Did you so easily forget YOUR CONSPIRACIES WHICH YOU KEEP REITERATING. Here's your piece of shit that you threw, just like your 100% of all other shits –

"I am v glad H S you too my bait …exposing you ARE a Muslim barbarian here to fuel the fire of Hindu-Sikh strife. "

Keep up the work to prove the actual GENUINE DESIRE (?) of Hindus present on this site to discuss.

P.S: You lied, just like other cheap Hindus, that you don't live in Canada. However you are so dumb that you leave the imprints of your cheap lies. Do you remember this link given by you?
    http://books.google.ca/books?id=EWlHPAkjBKUC&….

Dumbs like you would go to the google's canadian website (google.ca) if you don't stay in Canada, to search just as you have done by providing this link.

You know what, your neo-nazi RSS' inspired character is not just that you will not be believed by anyone, but that you don't believe anyone!!!!

i do not have to lie about living in Canada. why the hell would i deny that i live in such a beautiful country as Canada? that is ridiculous.

as far as that link is concerned, i do not remember giving any link about 'dancing Shiva'. can you name the thread where I ALLEGEDLY :) gave that link?

    whats wrong with you Haroon?

    Sher

  22. H S says:

@ Sher: That link is in "Liberation or Racism?" post. The first page of comments has that link.

How funny it is that for matters you spoke so confidently and assertively, and now you forgot what link you provided to support your claims.

It is just a show trying to attract audience by creating controversies. Unfortunately the "Talent" happened to be performance of Gatka. We have established that everyone has a right to their opinion. My two cents on the whole situation is SGPC should take up the matter of food grains rotting in Punjab with the government and spend the resources in doing something for the people rather than continuing the useless controversy by asking Sajid Khan to apologize.

^ No, Sher. Me and Lakhvir are on the same side of the coin ; We are both Sikhs. YOIU, on the other hand, and a couple of others here, are the other side of the coin ; Hindus on a Sikh forum trying to lecture Sikhs about Sikhism.
I have no idea what this particular story is about. Its got a rather unattractive fat bird pointing her finger up…..none of which makes me wanna click and hear what she's got to say. My comment was about the comment made by the Rakesh Gupta / Sunil Sharma fella masqerarding on this forum as a certain 'Rajinder Singh Virk' . I found it interesting how, in his intense heat of his hatred of Sikhs, he forgot for one moment who he was pretending to be and started referring to sikhs as "You"…"them"…."they" and even a "sect" rather than a religion in its own right. You'll like him Sher. He's on your side of the coin.

    My View is simple

I agree with Sajid that Kids should not be taught viiolence
That said..This is a show, for entertainment, and this was an act for the show

Also it is a form of Martial Art ( Gatka being the display part of Shastar Vidya), and there are Chinese Shaolin Monks being bought up in the same way, so the troupe and Kiran are also correct..

turning this into 40 posts of anger is silly..its a show, and Sajid merely stated his opinion and Kiran rebuked it..that is Democracy…the only good habit of the west we should absorb, not the drugs, rap and all that nonsense..
