Government and Police Protect Ashutosh, Sikh Killed

police.jpg

Ludhiana remains tense.  Currently it is under curfew.

The Punjab Police has never been a force for the people.  It neither serves nor protects, unless you are part of the Indian establishment, government, or have been provided special sanction by the government.  Today was no different. The henchman acted on the orders of the mobsters.

goli.jpgToday one Sikh was killed and at least a dozen others wounded when various Panthic organizations called for a protest against Ashutosh and his Noormahalias, sometimes labeled under the acronym DJJS for the organization’s full name – Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan.

Panthic groups have had clashes with the group in the past for the vitriol leveled against members of the Khalsa and Ashutosh’s own claim to be an incarnation of the Sikh Gurus.

Tweeters from Ludhiana can be followed here and tell of the latest violence, road closures, and situation.  One of particular interest can be read here.

Parkash Badal seems to have ordered the police to open fire on the crowds as can be seen in the latest pictures.  Again cult leaders are protected, while the people are fired upon.

Punjab watches and waits.

For pictures of the scene, see here.  For news and updates, see here, here, and here.

When I see this I wonder what do all those people that usually have problems with Sikhs protesting against the Indian government have to say?

and those selfish Sikh leaders that go shake hands with the representatives of such murderous governments and cannot stop smiling for photo opportunities have to say about this?

First it was these selfish leaders but now its youth representatives like Navneet Narula who go to the white house for lunches while Sikh from the DC area protest in the cold weather.

WE NEED TO WAKE UP BEFORE YOUR HISTORY YOUR PEOPLE AND YOUR BEING IS NO MORE!!

From 1984-1993 the Indian Government killed tens of thousands of innocent Sikhs in fake encounters, Delhi Programs and the attack on Harimandar Sahib and there were no records; people just disappeared.

The one glimmer of hope that has come out these protests is that images of police oppression are being relayed by cell phone images, video cameras and Twitter by regular citizens so the world can bear witness. Receiving justice is another matter.

This is sad beyond words, Punjab continues to fall deep down in its civic, political and community empowerment approach. It makes me cry from inside and scream with anger to see our own government, our own selected leaders, think that they can do whatever they want and however they want it. Calling it pathetic is the nicest i can be on this for Badal.

It makes me believe, now more than ever, that the real democractic ways to solve Punjab's problems will have to be a joint effort, outside of Punjab, outside of India, from Sikhs all across the world, we will need to unite under one movement, one panth, one area of focus at a time. To have the right and maximum impact, we MUST organize and implement our goals as ONE.

I beg to differ from some of you on this, but protesting from far, across the streets, across the other side will not get us anywhere, it never has. We need to be wiser, no one is wanting to talk when they know that's not your interest. Out best approach is in seeking opportunities to initiate continuous dialogue with those that we disagree, to continue to have lawmakers understand our perspective, to educate them in making better decisions for our community.

    Contd…

Our approach as a community should not be to call those out who are doing well and do not agree with our approach as outliers. Infact, we should be proud of those are getting these opportunities to interact with top leaders and work with them to ensure that they are getting our word in, sharing our perspectives, voicing our concerns and pushing our movement in the direction set by panth.

Every movement has had a leader, every. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr led the civil rights one right here in US, children like Barack Obama, knew exactly what was happening and where their community was headed and what the goal was. Our Sikh children struggle with even knowing who's part of the community and what we are fighting for, coz frankly our parents have different expectations of Punjab, of Sikh community than what we as young brothers and sisters have of it.

I'd be grateful if someone can help me with sharing what our Sikh community's Unilaterally agreed, priorities are ???

    Guru Rakha.
