NYPD diversity training with a sinister twist
Since 9/11, Sikh advocates and community members have been proactive about providing training for law enforcement officers to educate them about our religion and articles of faith and to foster positive relations between local police and Sikhs. My feelings about the role of the police in our communities aside, the Village Voice is reporting that New York City cops have been doing some learning about the Muslim community lately. But not the kind of learning that SALDEF and other Sikh organizations have been facilitating across the country.
At a recent counter-terrorism training, NYPD officers were shown a full-length, Muslim-bashing film called The Third Jihad. According to the Village Voice, the film “is 72 minutes of gruesome footage of bombing carnage, frenzied crowds, burning American flags, flaming churches, and seething mullahs. All of this is sandwiched between a collection of somber talking heads informing us that, while we were sleeping, the international Islamist Jihad that wrought these horrors has set up shop here and is quietly going about its deadly business.”
During the film, the narrator says, “Americans are being told that most of the mainstream Muslim groups are moderate when in fact, if you look a little closer, you’ll see a very different reality. One of their primary tactics is deception.”
The film was made by the Clarion Fund, infamous for distributing 28 million DVD copies of its equally racist anti-Muslim propaganda flick, Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West, in major newspapers like the New York Times and Wall Street Journal in 2008 before the election.

Though the NYPD told the Voice they are no longer using the film in trainings, the question still begs to be asked: How in the world was a film like this shown to “train” public servants (who are paid by tax-payer dollars) in New York City?

Madness? That sounds like my grandfather. Sikhs are anti-jihad too, ya-know.
yes, madness. the agenda behind this film is the same as the right wing pundit's who created the upheaval about the so-called "ground-zero mosque" — presenting islam as an evil cult trying to take over the world. sikhism does not and has never had anything against islam, only against tyranny in all its forms.

Sikhi was created out of a necessity to fight oppression, whether in the form of state sponsored tyranny or elitist patriarchal caste"ism". Times change yet the fight against oppression continues on, hence the basis of the Sikhi spirit.
As far as New York and its training programs being based on biased, racist platforms…..look no further than Peter King (R) from nassau county. Rep. King is Ranking Member of the Homeland Security Committee and also serves on the Financial Services Committee and Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He has said some messed up shit without any shame.

Anyway- check out this bit of info on Peter King affiliations. The article below highlights an interesting angle to his ties with radical militant groups….namely the support of the IRA (Irish Republic Army) which had long been considered by the state department a terrorist group. If the same rules he wishes to enforce were enforced on him he would be sitting some where of the coast of Miami- thinking of how he got himself a one way ticket to Gitmo.

My point here being that the framework that people use to justify blatant xenophobia, hate mongering can be changed and molded to fit the needs of the nation state and those needs are best protected with and army abroad and a police force at home that can act on hate against an ever changing global enemy.

War is one situation where the answers are in BINARY.
You are either with the nation or against it.
No wishi washi (intellectually superior) answers in war.
It is all about life and death
and not
any noble or highly intellectual or spiritual goals.

When jihadist, who actually study their own religion, claim to act in the name of Islam and say that deception is allowed in Islam, you are saying that you know better than them?
