    I am hugely disappointed in TLH for posting such a story. So now it's ok for Dastar wearing girls to marry out of the faith? By posting this story you are supporting this. For the posters who don't have a clue what Sikhi is, please go and get an education as Sikhi is not some new age airy fairy belief system where anything goes just because 'we don't want to hurt anyones feelings'. Rehat clearly states Amritdhari should marry Amritdhari. The people who have a problem with this lady would also have a problem if an Amritdhari Singh married a non-Sikh female with cut hair. If you are an Amritdhari you represent Sikhi and anything you do has a bearing on Sikhi. That's why the Guru said 'Khalsa mero roop ho khaas' All the non-Amritdhari Sikhs look at Amritdharis to set an example. No body would bat any eyelid if a non-Amritdhari married a non-Sikh but Amritdharis have made a commitment to the Guru and when they shamefacedly become bemukh and parade their lack of commitment on the web then Sikhs will take them to task over it.

      she isn't amritdhari. now do you still have a point? Afterall as you said "No body would bat any eyelid if a non-Amritdhari married a non-Sikh"

      why don't you apologize to the members of TLH for wasting their time with your post without having bothered to read previous threads.

      @Bik

      Can you please share your source for " Rehat clearly states Amritdhari should marry Amritdhari."
      Thanks.

      On a side note, if after marriage, one spouse becomes amritdhari then does the rehat also state that they should force amrit on their spouse ? Thanks in advance for clarification.

    I hope Jodha will apologise to the readers of this blog and to the other members of TLH, please understand that being 'progressive' does not mean you become PC idiots applauding any Sikh who breaks their rehat or rebels against their family.

    It's not about other people throwing verbal condemnations at peoples relationships. That is an absurd thing. It's a discussion about the process of mixed marriages and how a community reacts and how mixed marriage might affect a community.

    He doesn't seem to be of any religion or practice, however much he may consider himself "religious", if he was a religious *Jew* of anything but Reform background, he simply could not in good conscience date or marry this woman. He himself is from an assimilated family of whom both of THEIR faiths doubly do not recognize THEIR marriage; Catholic teaching is against marriage with non-Catholics, and Orthodox Jewish law does not recognize his parents relationship as marriage, Conservative Judaism likely also does not – the Reform are, of course, indifferent. She claims to come from a traditional family, but has taken up with a non-Sikh, who has introduced her to YOGA…I'm sorry to say that neither of them are angels! They're something much more dangerous; they're human. And I hope they don't 'bless' their children with profound and destructive confusion and resentment. I cry for BOTH of them, I may feel happy for them that they've both found happiness, I cannot in good conscience, as someone sympathetic to the future of Sikhi and the Jewish and every other community – say this is cause for COMMUNAL celebration on anyone's part.

    Guru Granth Sahib does not forbid marrriage of SIKH to any one.
    It on contrary recognizes whle mankind as one.

    All peoples of the world are equal :–

    The Guru Granth Sahib promotes the message of equality of all beings and at the same time state that Sikh believers "obtain the supreme status" (SSGS, Page 446). Discrimination of all types is strictly forbidden based on the Sikh tenet Fatherhood of God which states that no one should be reckoned low or high, stating that instead believers should –“reckon the entire mankind as One” (Akal Ustat, 15.85).

    Sri Guru Granth Sahib promotes the concept of equality by highlighting the fact that we are made of the same flesh, blood and bone and we have the same light of God with us – Soul . Our building bricks are the same:

    SGGS Page 272 Full Shabad
    The God-conscious being is always unstained, like the sun, which gives its comfort and warmth to all. The God-conscious being looks upon all alike, like the wind, which blows equally upon the king and the poor beggar

    i have friend. he is catholic. we were talking about each other religion. he said christian should mary christian. i was totally against it. I told him, god is inside everyone and it doesn;t matter who u marry with. But, he give me very good answer and opened my eyes. The answer was that God is like your father. If you are marying to someone else, it means you are not listening to him and you are going against your father. I think sikh should marry sikh. If you marry to a guy another religion it shows that u don;t love your guru. I don;t know but it;s truth many sikh girls are marrying to other religion guys. It;s sad. listen to this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ccqc7uOVkIU. sorry for if i said something wrong. sarbat da phala. guru nanak rakha
