A few weeks ago, India joined the world in mourning the loss of Nelson Mandela, the former South African president and anti-apartheid revolutionary whose armed resistance and leadership rendered him a “terrorist†and imprisoned for 27 years. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh stated: “A giant among men has passed away. This is as much India’s loss as South Africa’s. He was a true Gandhian. His life and work will remain a source of eternal inspiration for generations to come.â€
It’s been 44 days since a Sikh farmer and activist from Haryana decided to launch a hunger strike unto death at Gurudwara Amb Sahib (Mohali, next door to Chandigarh) to protest the long sentences being served by political prisoners who have been denied any legally mandated review of their cases; and India remains largely silent. BBC Radio yesterday recognized that while the protest has caught momentum around the world, and from various quarters in Punjab, including the oft-vilified Punjabi singers, mainstream India is largely aloof on this issue.
democracy is for demons – a theocratic republic (sikhism) khalistan is the crying need of the hour
Again a case of self aggrandizing. This guy was imprisoned during the 80s for his illegal activities, yet the author is puting him on a pedestal. The prisoners that have been released, have been paroled for upto 1 month, not coz this dude demanded it but coz their bail applications were, recieved, looked at and adjudicated in proper and timely manner.I dont know why sikh writers on this and other sites fail to point this out. When will the sikhs in diaspora stop worshipping the criminal elements among themsalves.
Sikh fight for get human rights in all over the word while when every person give the rights then not create the situation of fight. Couple of years students get the education in matric and then leave the study and doing working. After few years do the marriage and run your life and now days past are totally changed. First step is complete the education and built up the career and then doing marriage.
I am really the person that wants to have the democracy to run the country because the big countries are only able to run through it. There are always some consequences which have proved that democracy is better.
India is a hypocrite state in the name of democracy and i saw different article Smartwritingservice.com review on this topic. They treat minorities like shit and then beat them for the religious beliefs. So much for a secular country, Sikhs are bound to form of Khalistan and the movement is underway
