Update: Hook a Sikh Punjabi Brother Up

Update:

Who knows if the “Langar-ite Leap” helped Rohanpreet gain the maximum number of votes last weekend, but it surely did help. If you voted last week, make sure you vote again. If you didn’t vote last week, make sure this week you do.

It is down to the final 3. After an acrimonious elimination last week, Rohanpreet has advanced out of the Final 4. The quest to number 1 continues. His talent brought him this far, it’s our job to bring it home. If you forgot how to vote, scroll down and remember. VOTE OR DIE! (Thanks, Puffy)

Rohanpreet needs your help. We have featured Rohanpreet, the Prince of Patiala on this blog before and now he desperately needs your help. rohanpreet.jpgHe needs your vote. Atleast for this weekend, forget Hillary, Obama, and even McCain, think Rohanpreet. (Yes, we are usually against group identity blocks, but sometimes we make exceptions)What you need to do – VOTE FOR ROHANPREET.

  1. Go to this website
  2. Click on the ‘Sign Up’ blue tab under the password entry area
  3. Fill out the registration. (Yes, it’s lame, but this one is easy, JUST DO IT!)
  4. Vote as many times as possible (There is no limit! Stop being lazy, you have nothing better to do, c’mon just a few more times)
  5. If you do it, leave a comment here. Let’s see how many we can get to vote Rohanpreet!

Voting ends Monday morning 10:30am IST, thats Sunday night 9:00pm PST.

Do it for love. Do it for music. Do it for Punjab. Do it for Rohanpreet. Just DO IT. Ok enough of this bakwas, back to your regularly scheduled broadcasting….

  1. I got in 5 votes before getting bored.

I was tempted to throw in a vote for Aamir simply because of his quasi-gang sign stacking, but then remembered my lifelong pledge to never encourage wannabe-gangsta posturing among desis. (Or anyone, for that matter.) Without knowing anything about Aamir, having never seen any of his performances, and basing my entire judgment of his character solely upon a thumbnail, I'm to assume he'll be getting lots of support from those desi guys who hang out in Jack in the Box parking lots at 2am, bumping Jazzy B from their lowered, tricked out Hyundais with obligatory khanda sticker on the rear window, and succeeding in giving the appearance of being vaguely threatening to anyone who happens to pull in, wanting a late-night Sourdough Jack with fries and a shake to attack an especially tenacious post-monster-bong-hit case of the munchies. Who knows, that guy staring at you with his homies as you drowsily drive up to the window, struggling to remember how the "J" in "Stuffed Jalapenos" is pronounced 10 years from now just might be Aamir.

    But I digress.

    Rohanpreet 08!

I voted 11 times, (added the additional 1 vote for good luck … you would never give $10 as a sagaan always $11)!

  11. idiot says:

Should we vote for someone because they are good or should we vote for them because we affiliate with them / because he's 'one of us'.

Of these I would choose the prior but then – should we choose the Sikh kid in the hope that he might grow up to be a better individual than the others and therefore be a better role model to others… this is where I struggle. Because whilst I think it's right to vote for the person that sings the best – I am also drawn to the hope that Rohanpreet might turn out to be a brilliant Sikh and thus a brilliant 'role – model' for other sikhs.

But hey it's a talent contest not a character assessment – still doesn't resolve my dillema.

    idiot,

I think we can do both :) I think he's fantastic, and it's an added bonus that he's a Sikh!

    Read his profile:

Guru’s Name: Professor Gurmukh Singh Sehgal, he is my father’s uncle

I think your true Guru should come before your musical Guru. He's young, but he should know the difference.

  17. Mewa Singh says:

    Blue,

I am sure that he is only referring to his Ustaad. Afterall he goes to Guru Harkrishan Public School in Patiala.

He's a kid and I think it is remarkable that even at that age, when asked, "What You Love The Most?" he responded, "Wahe Guru." At that age, I think I would have responded, "Red Skittles."

  19. Singh says:

i concur with mewa singh in response to blue. its in context – who is your musical guru/teacher.

also…to idiot – i must say the kid is quite good and inspirational (when he takes time to recognize his faith in the middle of the contest)

    camille,

I watched some of his performances on You Tube. Yes he is a pretty good singer! And I don't know who chooses his songs but some of them are extremely insightful choices!

The song from the legend of Bhagat Singh and sai baba bol to name just two.
