Once again All Sikhs should have trouble with the way this is being presented as a Sikh issue. Especially with the title ‘Sikh Women’s Abuse Center’.
ON this site thelangarhall.com Sikhism itself is rarely discussed, and yet we find the abuse of women associated with the word Sikh on this site.
When the issue of womens abuse has been presented in the past on this site, its been the story of Jasveer Sanghera and her outreach program which seems to affect about 98% of women in the muslim community of the U.K.
So after spending so much time trying to inform others that Sikhism is not a part of brahminism/hinduism.
Sikh find themselves being associated with a primarily muslim community issue (not Islamic) in the abuse of women, and honor killings.
Many of the stories related to happenings in the Sikh Community on this site have to do with adultery, caste, and jealousy (like Jasveer Sanghera who cheated on her loyal first husband and had trouble being with him due to caste).
But if adultery, social standing, and jealousy is what it takes to call these attacks on women ‘honor killings’ then the caucasian western world is full of them with or without calling them a Christian subject matter.
To all Sikh brothers and sisters, at this time india has an incredible A.I.D.S epidemic, there are plenty of Sikh doctors, would it sound proper if we had a “Sikh Women Venereal Disease Treatment Center”.
Don’t go for the leftist hype, these are the same people that get upset when those on the Fake Right start building Gurdwara’s to line their pockets, only difference is now the leftist are building ‘Centers’.
Nor should we be the comfortable middle who calls him or herself a moderate to fit in with everyone. We are Sikhs we are a part of the Real World.

Please clarify, do you believe Sikh women do not need these services and that domestic violence exists only amongst non-Sikhs? Even if domestic violence amongst Sikhs is only 70% of that found in the general populace, is it pointless to reach out to help those Sikh women who are affected by violence, and who would find comfort in services tailored to their language, culture etc.?
Or is it just the name that bothers you? What if the shelter was called ABC Domestic Violence Shelter, but otherwise kept its focus on assisting Sikh women – would you still be opposed?

“White Sikh Women’s, Don’t Beat Us or Mistreat Us Center To Save Ourselves From Abusive White Sikh Men”.

However it’s more probable that you thought of someone that wore a puggari/keski (both male and female) that had some of the five symbols visible, beard, and bana.
It would almost seem improper to have this image of a white Sikh meshed with a wife beater.
I hope the Sikhs in New Mexico would never allow a title such as ‘White Sikh Female Abuse Center to Stop White male Sikh abusive behavior ’ no matter how much money was pledged to them.
Now take off white in front of Sikh, the default image in the majority of minds would be that when Sikh is mentioned the image is of a punjabi with Puggari/Keski (female with a chunni), beard, and some of the five symbols visible.
But the writers (jodha, reema, sundari) on thelangarhall.com don’t really care too much in their articles on how this image is portrayed when they toss the word Sikh around in the title ‘Sikh women abuse center’. They only care when it come to using the word for donations or to bash morality of Sikhs, or to prop up their left minded agenda so they can be viewed as authoritative Sikh writers.
Those who associate themselves more with being punjabi are not going to defend Sikhism. They will welcome the term Sikh abusers over punjabi abuser. For them it becomes more of a reason to leave Sikhism altogether. However, No one is being asked to pick between being punjabi or a Sikh, however it is Sikhism that has given us and the rest of humanity some dignity.
